ENTERTAINING IMAGES

During the summer there are no classes in the Digital Photography program.  But this doesn't mean the faculty are not busy.  Quite the contrary!

Coordinator Richard Beland is preparing for the Fall and Winter semesters with new faculty, course design, and plenty of organizing.

One of Lambton Digital Photography's strong points is the faculty are all active working professional image makers.  You will be learning from current, experienced individuals who are leaders in their specialty areas.

Richard is an entertainment and music photography specialist.  He works with performers from many different genres covering stars of from all eras.

In the past month alone he has photographed:
-Serena Ryder (as TBEX the Travel Bloggers Event at Roy Thompson Hall)
-Chilliwack
-Don Rickels
-Russell Peters
-Frankie Valli
-Gordon Lightfoot
-Il Divo
-Sheena Easton
-Trace Adkins
-Aaron Lines
at Fallsview Casino Resort
Ontario Lottery and Gaming

Learning how to work in an industry is key to your success.  At Lambton you will be learning from faculty who are doing it now.

VIDEO COMMERCIAL

Our newest faculty member Troy Shantz (a more formal introduction to come soon) has produced a fast paced, catchy commercial message about the Lambton Digital Photography program.

The commercial will be on screen at the new eight auditorium Sarnia Galaxy Cinemas.

We are working hard to get the word out in the community about this special new program and the commercial being played on the big screen is an exciting development!

Take a look!

OPEN HOUSE INTEREST

The Lambton College Digital Photography Open House was a great success.  In attendance were faculty, a present student, newly registered students and a line of interested visitors.  Everyone got to see first hand the state-of-the-art Studio set up with a gallery of images from our first year students.

Faculty met with prospective students and curious community members.  And the three hour session went by quickly as we shared our vision with the visitors.  Thanks to everyone who was able to drop by.  Word about this great program is spreading quickly.

In addition to the Open House, the main Lambton Program page has been updated with links to faculty websites.

Welcome faculty LORRIE WILLIAMS

Lorrie Williams

Lambton Digital Photography is very excited to introduce, and welcome Lorrie Williams to our faculty team.  Lorrie will be teaching the Portrait/Wedding photography course starting this fall.

The course is a natural fit for award-winning photographer Lorrie Williams, who for more than 30 years, has created images that capture the special moments and record the milestones for families, friends and couples.

Having photographed over 500 weddings in her career makes her a portrait and wedding expert and clearly shows her passion and dedication to the art of photography.

The link between Lorrie’s talent, skill and achievement is something that she is looking forward to sharing as a mentor and instructor in Lambton College’s Digital Photography Program.

Sarnia Photographic Club tour

About 70 members of the Sarnia Photographic Club toured the Lambton College Digital Photography studio on Tuesday, June 4th.   The Club was holding their annual awards dinner in the Lambton Inn and were eager to see the studio and facilities.

Coordinator Richard Beland, faculty member Dave Chidley, studio manager Katie and student Mary Miller were kept busy answering questions about the program, classes, the studio and the school experience.

It was a very worthwhile gathering for both the school and the Photographic Club.  The club members are keen to spread the news about the exciting new Lambton Photography program in the community.  Many of the club members are eager to explore the possibility of attending the program in some capacity.

Seeing some great photographs from our students, testing out the "Cove" and some studio lighting equipment gave the club members a taste of the possibilities here at Lambton.

If you want to see the facilities and learm more about the program, please join us for our Open House:

Who and Guess Who?

Randy Bachman of The Guess Who
I was assigned by The Canadian Press to cover the Season Opening Gala of the Stratford Festival on Monday and then the Opening of the Rock Opera, Tommy on Thursday evening.

Both photo shoots involved a lot of red carpet, celebrity smiles and interviews.  These are quick and hectic happenings as the guests and stars make their way into the theatre in a short time frame.

At the Tommy opening a funny twist on the celebrities occured when Randy Bachman of The Guess Who and Pete Townshend of the Who both attended the opening.
Townshend wrote Tommy and was thrilled with the Stratford production.

Pete Townshend of The Who
The legendary rockers went un-noticed by a group high school aged patrons despite the close proximity.

Who and Guess Who, really did apply to them!  Stratford openings are always fun shoots, and it looked like the rockers were enjoying themselves too.
