Introducing faculty Troy Shantz

We are thrilled to officially introduce and welcome another member of the Digital Photography program faculty team.

Troy Shantz will be teaching the Digital Video classes starting in September.

Troy is an active filmmaker and photographer based and working in Sarnia, Ontario.

Troy graduated from Conestoga College in 2005 with a diploma in Broadcasting and went on to work as a news videographer and producer at Rogers Television in Kitchener.

In 2006, Troy became a full-time freelance photographer and filmmaker, working with corporate, broadcast and NGO clients across Canada, the US, Europe and Africa.

Troy currently is a co-owner of Storyboard Solutions Inc, a design and marketing company based in Sarnia, but also continues to work on personal film and photography projects with emphasis on humanitarian and environmental issues.

Adding video expertise to the student's skills is an exciting way to broaden the necessary skills to succeed in the digital photography world.

Location shoot for Beyond the Sun

Program coordinator Richard Beland recently was asked to shoot images for the band Beyond the Sun.  The trio drove from Bowmanville to have Beland create professional promotional and CD images.

For Beland, Sarnia and area, "is fun scouting locations and shooting as everything is new to me" adding that "the band and I collaborated on the creative aspects of the shoot." 

It was a full-day session with stops in the Studio, the Lawrence House, Wawanosh Wetlands and the Bluewater Bridge.

You can see how much the creative effort a professional shoot requires, from the lighting, props, posing, and locations.
