Image Challenge Winners

Lambton College Digital Photography program Image Challenge

The year-end Digital Challenge print competition was an unbelievably close contest.  Most of the category top-five placings were separated by only one or two percent!

All of our students submitted high-quality work that gave our esteemed judges plenty to discuss.

Many of the students and faculty were present for the entire seven hour judging marathon.  The judges comments and advice was an education for everyone.  Even our judges reflected that they learned from each other's assessments.

A huge thank-you to the judging panel of Leonard Segall, Glenn Ogilvie and Petro Tiahur.  (see an earlier posting on the blog) who each recored scores in four separate criteria for each of the hundreds of entries.

Prizes and contributions for the students were made by:

-Photo Tour Trekkers  phototourtrekkers.com - sponsor of the First and Second place Overall Winners for First Year Students

-Forest City Image Centre / Camera Canada CameraCanada.com  -For a wide selection of prizes and gift certificates

-Vistek  Your visual technology experts  -For a selection of gift certificates

-Henry's Cameras -For a selection of gift certificates

-Paddy Flaherty's Irish Pub -For hosting our awards ceremony, and providing live music for the event

The contest required students to enter 4-5 images in the categories.  First year categories were: Portrait, Nature, Commercial, and Unclassified.  Second year categories were: People, Places and Commercial.

Prizes were awarded to the highest scored entry in each category. The Overall winners for first and second year were determined by the scores from all the judges, on each of their entries combined.

The Overall Competition winners receive prizes from our sponsors and a plaque - The Geri Freeborn Memorial Award.

The Geri Freeborn Memorial Awards were created by program faculty in honour of a former Digital Photography student who passed away suddenly in January 2013. At age 57, Freeborn was the oldest student to enroll in the College’s Digital Photography program. She has been remembered as a hard working student who was creatively driven.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
